On Lincoln's Birthday, the George L. Painter Lincoln Lectures will feature three speakers. Guy Fraker is a Bloomington, Illinois attorney and expert on Lincoln and the Eighth Judicial Circuit and has written and spoken extensively on Lincoln having spoken to clubs, college classes, and historical societies. Mr. Fraker will present “The Real Lincoln Highway: The Lincoln Circuit Markers.” The Painter Lectures will also feature Frank Williams, and Harold Holzer, presenting, “Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation: An Act of Political Courage.” Frank J. Williams is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Rhode Island; serves as a commissioner on the United States Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission; and, is one of the country's most renowned experts on Abraham Lincoln. Harold Holzer is Senior Vice President for External Affairs at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; is co-chairman of the United States Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission; and, is one of the country’s leading authorities on Abraham Lincoln and the political culture of the Civil War era. |
